Shropshire domiciliary care service is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Home Instead Senior Care, in Newport, Shropshire, to be Outstanding overall following an inspection in February.
Home Instead Senior Care is run by Renbridge Associates Ltd and the service provides personal care and support to people living in their own homes in the community. There were 41 people using the service at the time of our inspection.
Inspectors found staff were caring and compassionate and people were being provided with safe, responsive, caring, effective and well-led care. A full report of the inspection has been published on our website.
Under CQC’s programme of inspections, all adult social care services are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Home Instead Senior Care was rated Outstanding overall, Outstanding for being caring and well-led and Good for being safe, effective and responsive.
The service was previously rated Good overall following an inspection in August 2015.
Acosia Nyanin, CQC’s Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the central region, said:
“Our inspection team were really impressed by the level of care and support offered by Home Instead Senior Care."
“We found a service where staff were kind caring and compassionate. There were systems in place to ensure people’s safety, sufficient staff to meet people’s needs and people were matched with staff to ensure compatibility and consistency of care."
“This meant that people got to know the staff who supported them and trusted them to meet their needs safely and in ways that they preferred. Staff could offer flexible and responsive support that met people's changing needs in order to ensure their on-going safety and well-being."
“Staff supported family members by sharing good practice and working alongside them to ensure people's needs were met. The rights and choices of people using the service were respected and promoted. People received individualised support and their communication needs were known. Different communication methods were used to ensure people were involved in decisions about their care."
“The providers were innovative, creative and committed to the continual improvement and development of the service and they were passionate about raising the profile of the service and of the aging process in general."
“People who used the service told us it was very well run and that its high standards were reflected throughout."
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated Outstanding.”
Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care, said:
“The quality of care which our inspectors found here was exceptional and I am very pleased that we can celebrate the service’s achievements."
