A London clinic has been rated Outstanding overall by the Care Quality Commission.

Fortius Clinic, which has two locations in Westminster and one in the City of London, was rated Outstanding for being safe and well-led. It was rated Good for being effective, caring and responsive, following an inspection in October 2019.

The service specialises in orthopaedic care and sports injuries with specialists covering: knee; foot and ankle; spine; shoulder; elbow; hand & wrist; hip & groin; podiatry and pain conditions.

Staff worked especially hard to make the patient experience as pleasant as possible by responding to the holistic needs of their patients. There was a continual drive to further Improvement with flexibility to redesign service delivery to meet new challenges.

There was a positive culture and an open and transparent approach to raising concerns and responding to risks. Staff were complimentary about the leadership and felt well supported to develop within their roles.

Senior consultant clinicians worked effectively together to provide strong and sometimes inspirational leadership of the organisation and its services.

Leaders at all levels were visible and approachable. They worked closely with staff and others to ensure they prioritised compassionate and inclusive leadership.

Head of Inspection for Primary Medical Services in London, Antony Hall, said: “Fortius Clinic boasts strong dedicated leadership and a staff that is prepared to go the extra mile for their patients. I can only congratulate all involved in helping to get an Outstanding CQC rating.”
