CQC rate Dr Monella and Partners in Dorking as Outstanding

The Care Quality Commission has found the quality of care provided by Dr Monella and Partners in Dorking, Surrey to be Outstanding following an inspection carried out in December 2015.

Under CQC’s new programme of inspections, all of England’s GP practices are being given a rating according to whether they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.

Inspectors rated the practice at Reigate Road, Dorking, Surrey, Good for being safe and effective while rating it outstanding for being well led, responsive to people’s needs and caring. A full report of the inspection has been published today.

Ruth Rankine, Deputy Chief Inspector of General Practice in the South, said:

"We found that the surgery of Dr Monella and Partners is providing an Outstanding service, particularly for people whose circumstances may make them vulnerable and at risk.

“We were particularly impressed with the practice’s work to drive improvements to services for its patients and the commitment of all staff to continuously improve.”

“Staff demonstrated a detailed understanding of the differing needs of their patients and planned their services accordingly.”

Professor Steve Field, Chief Inspector of General Practice, said:

“I am delighted to highlight the exceptional standard of care which is being provided at the Dr Monella and Partners.

"Throughout the inspection we were particularly impressed by the way the practice worked with the public to shape its service to meet the needs of its patient groups.

"The GPs and all their staff deserve the credit for this Outstanding service."

The report highlights a number of areas of outstanding practice, including:

  • The practice was extremely pro-active in supporting the well-being of its patients by engaging with and participating in numerous community support groups.
  • The culture of the practice focused on community engagement and being central to community life. This culture benefited the emotional and physical well-being of the patients. In addition we noted many individual acts of care, compassion and kindness towards patients, by members of the practice team, often in their own time.
