CQC confirms Chair of Healthwatch England and non-executive Board member

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has announced that Jane Mordue has been appointed as the Chair of Healthwatch England (the independent ‘consumer champion’ in health and care) and as a non-executive Board member.

Jane has held both of these positions on an interim basis since December 2015, following the departure of Anna Bradley.

Jane has been a committee member of Healthwatch England since 2012.  Her experience prior to that includes being the Deputy Chair of Citizens Advice and the Vice Chair of the Gangmasters’ Licensing Authority. As well as this, she is a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors.

Jane will begin her role in this capacity on Thursday (1 December) and will serve for two years.

Peter Wyman, Chair of the Care Quality Commission (CQC), said: “I am very pleased to announce that Jane will continue to be the Chair of Healthwatch England and a non-executive member of our Board, having acted in these roles on an interim basis for the last year.

“Jane’s background in consumer rights and protection will be invaluable in helping the health and care sectors enhance how they use and capture the views and experiences of people. Her experience makes her an asset as both a non-executive director of CQC and as Chair of Healthwatch England.”

“I am delighted to be appointed as the permanent Chair and to be cracking on with the job of putting people at the heart of our health and social care services.”
