The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found the quality of care provided by Cheshire & Midlands Supported Living, in Cheshire to be outstanding following an inspection in July this year.

The service, located in Sandbach, Cheshire, was rated Good for being safe, effective and caring and Outstanding for being responsive and well-led. Overall the service was rated Outstanding.

During the inspection, CQC inspectors found the service provided outstanding care and support to people and was very responsive to their needs, wishes and preferences. All people, relatives and staff spoken with were extremely positive about the service.

Some of the findings from the latest inspection included:

  • People received individualised and personalised care which had been discussed and planned with them.
  • Staff had a thorough understanding of how people wanted to be supported.
  • In addition, people's care needs were kept under regular review, when changes had been identified records were updated to reflect this.
  • Inspectors saw that daily records were kept which were detailed and up to date.

Debbie Westhead, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care in the North, said:

“The care being provided by this domiciliary care agency was of a very high standard.

Amongst some of the excellent practice, we could see that the service promoted a philosophy of care, where people who used the service were included, and were enabled to be part of decision making about their support, as well as the service.

We found people received outstanding personalised care and support, telling us they were involved in all decisions about their care and the service had developed creative means of enabling people to lead as full a life as possible.

“The service was extremely well-led. The registered manager was focused upon improving the quality of the service and there was a strong emphasis on continuous improvement. It is for these reasons that we have rated Cheshire & Midlands Supported Living as Outstanding.”
