All Inspections

10 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with patients who used the service and their relatives and they were positive about the service. Patients felt they were 'extremely happy with their treatment' and they 'would definitely recommend the service to anybody'. They said they had no complaints.

Arrangements were in place to assess and provide appropriate support for patients with communication difficulties associated with a learning disability or dementia.

We noted staff had access to training and support and were able to provide treatment that met patients' needs. Patients felt safe and staff tried to minimise any anxiety.

Patients felt that the environment was clean. However, they said it was not always easy to find their way to the clinics as the layout of the environment was 'complicated'. The clinical areas were multi-use to maximise the limited amount of space available. We noted that post-operative consultation was carried out in a waiting area in the day care ward which meant that patients were not able to currently have a discussion in private. Patients told us that they did not mind this and the senior staff told us about and showed us the expansion plans for outpatient services which will address these types of space issues.

Patients who used the service and their representatives were asked for their views about their care and treatment. The provider may find it useful to note that information on complaints and leaflets in other languages were not readily available.
