All Inspections

4 December 2013

During a routine inspection

During this inspection we spoke with four people who used the service, five relatives and five members of staff. The people we spoke with were satisfied with the service. They felt the staff were skilled and competent to carry out their role.

One person told us, ' The staff always explain any procedures to me. They are good'. Where people were unable to comment, people's family members told us they were happy with the care and attention their relative received. One person's relative said 'I feel my relative is well cared for here and the staff allow me to feel and be involved in the care where I can be'.

There were systems in place to support people who lacked capacity to make decisions for themselves.

We observed that people's care was unhurried and we saw where people were offered and

encouraged to make choices.

We found that where necessary action was taken to address people's nutritional needs and people's nutritional and hydration needs were being met.

From our observations, the documentation we reviewed and the staff we spoke with we were assured there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff available to meet people's needs.

The provider had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. Where shortfalls were identified a plan was made to address these.

During an inspection in response to concerns

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service, because the people using the service had complex needs which meant they were not able to tell us their experiences.
