We checked that people who use this service

  • Are safe and their health and welfare needs are met by staff who are fit, appropriately qualified and are physically and mentally able to do their job.

How this check was done

We reviewed all the information we hold about this provider, carried out a visit on 08/03/2011, checked the provider's records, observed how people were being cared for, reviewed information from people who use the service, talked to staff and talked to people who use services.

Our judgement

The hospital recruits people to work in its services through effective and robust recruitment procedures.

User experience

Information previously gathered about the trust from patients showed that patients were involved in the recruitment of staff and form part of the interview panel.

Patients described staff as ‘amazing’, great and friendly.

Other evidence

The trust has robust recruitment policies and procedures and all staff are recruited in accordance with them. These include thorough pre-employment checks, including references, Criminal Records Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authority checks.

Recruitment information is monitored monthly at unit, service delivery unit and trust board level.
