During a routine inspection

We spoke with five patients who used the service and/or their relative. Patients told us they were happy with the care provided and were involved with their care and support needs. Comments we received included:

'This is a good place they help me loads.'

'Very good here, helping me to move, I'm very pleased.'

Patients had contributed their preferences and their experiences were taken into account in relation to how care and support was delivered. Patients said they were asked for their consent to care and treatment. One patient told us they remembered signing consent to their treatment and records showed consent forms had been completed.

Patients who used the service were very positive about the staff and said there were enough staff to meet their needs. Comments included:

'I know that if I have problems I can approach staff'.

'Everything's fine, the staff are lovely'.

We spoke with five staff, including the Unit Manager and Service Manager. Staff said they had enough staff to meet patient's needs properly. They said they did not feel rushed and had enough time to make sure patients got what they needed. However, all staff we spoke with said they felt patients who used the service would benefit from more occupational therapy and psychology support.

We saw that patients who used the service were responded to promptly when they asked for any support or assistance.

There were some quality monitoring programmes in place, which included patients giving feedback about their care and support.
