All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Patients on the wards we visited told us that staff maintained their dignity and respect, for example by ensuring that curtains are drawn around the bed when personal care is provided. They said that staff were friendly and helpful. Most patients who we spoke to told us that the care was very good and that they were well looked after. Women we spoke to in the Maternity Unit were confident about the quality of care they received. Patients we spoke to in A&E told us that they had been seen very quickly.

A small number of patients told us that their experience on the Medical Assessment Unit had not been so good. They said they had not always been treated with dignity and respect and their needs had not been met all of the time.

Patients told us that the hospital was very clean, and that staff observed infection control procedures most of the time. Patients said they had received pain relief; on the Maternity Unit women said they had a choice of pain relief. Some patients told us that they didn't receive enough information about their medication.
