All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We undertook the inspection to follow up concerns identified as part of our previous inspection in February 2014. During the previous inspection we found that people who used the service had not been offered appointments in a timely manner, care plans and risk management plans lacked detail, results of urine samples were not consistently recorded and people were not always able to obtain a Hepatitis B vaccination if they wanted one.

As part of the follow-up inspection in August 2014, we found that improvements had been made. People were offered appointments in a timely manner, records were updated, results of urine samples had been recorded and letters had been sent out to all people who used the service to offer them the opportunity to obtain a Hepatitis B test and vaccination. We saw that care plans and risk assessments had improved although one person's risk assessment required more detail.

During a routine inspection

We talked to people who used the service who told us that they were satisfied with the care and treatment provided, although there had been some issues in the past with staff turnover. People told us this had improved recently. Staff told us they enjoyed working for CRI and that they felt supported by management.

Staff recruited by the service had had necessary checks performed to ensure they were of good character and had the relevant qualifications or experience.

We found that people were satisfied with the care and treatment provided by CRI but that the documentation of the care planning and treatment was not sufficiently detailed and that the results from diagnostic tests were not always recorded.

Suitable arrangements were in place for prescribing and the storage of medication.

Complaints received by the service had been followed up, although there had been delays in responding to complaints.
