All Inspections

19 August 2013

During a routine inspection

We visited the service and spoke with four people who used the service and spoke with six members of staff.

One person we spoke with described the service provided at by CRI (Crime Reduction Initiatives) at the Zion Community Centre as 'Invaluable' and said that staff were 'very supportive.' We found that recovery staff were trained and supported to deliver support and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

We found that people who used the service were given the choice of either attending appointments at the Zion Community Service or at one of the GP surgeries where a 'shared care service' was provided. Some of the people we spoke with told us they had used both facilities and that they had found both beneficial.

We saw that people who used the service were required to be fully engaged and actively involved in planning their support and treatment and this involved discussions with people about their future life goals and aspirations, for example, living a drug free lifestyle or getting back into employment. People told us they had a good working relationship with their recovery workers and one person said: 'My recovery worker always treats me respectfully, they listen to me. I like that.'

CRI provided a prescribing service at the Zion Community Centre. The service was essentially a prescribing service and as such did not usually keep stocks of medication.

We found there were good systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
