All Inspections

23 July 2013

During a routine inspection

People told us that they were very happy with the care and support they received. Comments included 'if it were not for the drug service I would be dead by now.' Another person told us he was now stable and had no desire to use illicit street drugs.

People said they felt safe using the service. Staff had completed the company's safeguarding training and were aware of the types and signs of abuse. They were aware of their responsibilities with regards to identifying and responding appropriately to any concerns about abuse. Medicines were handled appropriately and kept safely. The receipt and administration of medication was recorded appropriately.

Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work. Staff we spoke with confirmed that they were required to undergo Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) (now Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)) checks in order to work for the service. We saw evidence that references were required before people could start work with the service.

The service regularly assessed and monitored the quality of the services provided. A general questionnaire was given to people who used the service and regular meetings were held to monitor performance against set targets. People said that their views were listened to and any issues that arose were addressed. There was a formal complaints procedure and the information was placed in the reception area. People we spoke with had not had cause to make a complaint.
