During a routine inspection

Two of the four people using the service spoke with us. Although neither of these people wished to have long conversations it was evident from the comments that they made that they felt safe living at the home. Each of these people had been using the service for over five years. One person told us " I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." Another person told us "I like the staff."

We found that each person met regularly with their key worker and notes of the discussions at these meetings were kept. Care plans were being reviewed every three months, including care programme approach reviews where people were subject to on-going monitoring of their treatment in the community.

We found that communication was taking place with regular contact between this and other services that each person used.

We found that each person using the service had given their written consent for staff to keep their medicines on their behalf.

The training programme for the last year included an annual update of core skills in ten subject areas. We were informed by the deputy manager that these updates were done by means of staff watching training videos.

Neither of the two people who spoke with us said anything to indicate that they had any concern or complaints about the service. One person told us "I have lived here for over six years, its always been fine."
