The service should have quality checking systems to manage risks and assure the health, welfare and safety of people who receive care (outcome 16)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Benefit from safe quality care, treatment and support, due to effective decision making and the management of risks to their health, welfare and safety.

How this check was done

We looked at the personal care or treatment records of people who use the service, carried out a visit on 16 June 2014, checked how people were cared for at each stage of their treatment and care and talked with carers and / or family members. We reviewed information given to us by the provider.

Our judgement

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

Reasons for our judgement

People who used the service, their representatives and staff were asked for their views about their care and support and they were acted on.

We saw that the service had asked the relative of the person who used the service for feedback on the quality of the care that had been provided. Areas in which feedback had been requested included the service user guide, whether they had received adequate information and whether the care worker had maintained the person's privacy and dignity whilst delivering care. We saw that the results of this feedback were positive.

We found that feedback had also been requested from staff to confirm that they felt they were able to provide the appropriate care and support for the person who used the service.

The manager reported there had been no incidents or accidents since the last inspection of this service in October 2013.

The manager told us of one complaint that had been received since our previous inspection. This complaint had been raised with the Local Authority and remained under investigation by them at this time.
