During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we spoke with four people receiving support from the service and four relatives of people using the service. The people we spoke with were very complimentary about the care and support they received. Relatives told us that staff seemed well trained, were punctual and stayed the agreed time. They said that there was generally good continuity, with a small group of staff providing the care and support. One person receiving a service told us: 'They regularly review my care to check it's right for me. Staff are always respectful and I trust them in my home.' A relative told us: 'Alliance Care is so much better than the previous agency we used, I've never had any concerns with them. The staff are all very polite and respectful. They provide the care that X needs. ' Another told us: 'We had horrendous problems with a previous agency but this company is absolutely brilliant. They are good at monitoring X's medical condition. They ensure that X has their medicines and so prevent their readmissions to hospital.'

People were treated respectfully and their independence was supported and encouraged. They received care and support that met their needs. There were systems in place to protect people from poor practices or abuse. Staff received support and training to enable them to meet people's individual needs. The agency had systems to monitor the standards within the service.

21 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out an inspection at Alliance Care and Support on the 21 March 2013. We spoke to four people who used the service and three relatives of people using the service. One person told us: "I always feel safe when the care workers are in my home." and another told us, "They always let me know if they are running late." we were also told, "All the care workers know what they are doing, and they are really good at their job." A relative told us, "I'm very happy with the care they are always very calm and confident with Mum."

During our inspection we spoke with five members of staff. One of them told us: "I'm really well supported by the staff in the office; they're very good and help me to deal with problems really promptly.' All the staff we spoke to said they were confident carrying out their care roles for Alliance Care and Support Ltd.

The records we looked at during the inspection were of a good standard, easy to read and well organised. We observed and heard staff members talking courteously to people using the service on the telephone and attending to their queries promptly.
