All Inspections

11 October 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of the inspection Nu-Staff Image Plan Limited was providing care and support for around 45 people. We talked with one person who said the agency was 'Fine ' I am quite happy. They look after things.' A relative of one person using the service told us 'They are very, very good. I can't fault them.'

We spoke with the manager, one care worker, the field supervisor, one coordinator and a member of staff who covered the on-call system in addition to undertaking care hours. One care worker said they valued 'the support from the office. There is always someone at the end of the phone. We are a really good team.' Another member of staff said 'We really do care. We are always learning so we can make things better.'

People were informed about the service provided, and were involved in their care.

We looked at two care files and found that the planning and delivery of care promoted peoples' choices, dignity and independence, and was flexible to meet their needs.

People who used the service were protected because there were good systems in place to make sure staff were aware of the possibility of abuse and knew what action to take in the event of a suspicion or allegation.

We looked at two staff files and found there were effective systems in place to ensure people were safe because staff were subject to rigorous recruitment procedures.

During a routine inspection

At this unannounced inspection we spoke with two members of staff, the registered provider, four people who use the service of Nu-Staff Image Plan and two of their relatives.

During this inspection we visited four people in their own homes and talked to them and their relatives about the care they received from Nu-Staff Image Plan. All of the people we spoke with told us they were very happy with the service they received from Nu-Staff Image Plan.

People told us that care workers treated them with dignity and respect and provided all the help and care they needed. They told us the carers always left their home clean and tidy and completed their personal care in a friendly and respectful manner.

People told us there are agreed times for the service to be provided and the times were generally kept to. If visits were late or delayed people knew who to contact and said they were kept informed of any changes or delays to their visits. They told us they were sent a schedule of who would be conducting their visits up to a week in advance. One person told us this was a good system as they could see who would be visiting them each day.

One person told us,' I love having the carers in, they are so friendly and very good company'. Another person told us 'I can't grumble they provide very good care'.

One relative told us Nu-Staff Image Plan had done a thorough assessment of their relative's needs and ensured their relative had the gender of carer that they had asked for.

People and their relatives gave us examples of support provided with medication, personal care, food and using equipment which they reported on positively. People and relatives spoken with felt able to raise issues directly with the agency and had their contact details clearly displayed.

All of the people we spoke to knew how to complain if they had any complaints about the care given by Nu-Staff Image Plan.

Everyone we spoke with told us they received support from a regular team of care workers and they were able to build good relationships with these people.

We spoke with three members of staff and they all stated the agency had provided thorough training and gave them good support in order for them to provide effective personal care.

Staff told us the standard of carer employed by Nu-Staff Image Plan was excellent and they were all given the correct amount of management support to enable them to carry out their role effectively.

One member of staff said the travel time they were given between some of their visits was not enough for their particular area, which meant visits at the end of their shift could be late.
