During a routine inspection

We found there were care pathways in place that detailed the care and support people needed for specific treatment. These care pathways ensured people received care and treatment in line with current best practice guidance.

Staff received appropriate professional development. There was evidence that staff had attended mandatory training courses including basic life support, child protection and infection control.

There were systems in place to ensure appropriate checks were completed for all staff before they started work at Healthspace.

People were made aware of the complaints system. This was provided in a format that met their needs.

We saw health records and guidance about people's health and support needs were up to date, reviewed regularly and when people's needs changed.

Procedures were followed to ensure people consented to the care and treatment they received at Healthspace.

There were effective processes in place to ensure health care practitioners who worked at Healthspace but were not employed by Healthspace, had the relevant skills and experience. However, current recruitment practices meant the registered person was not able to be assured that the relevant checks had been completed for all people who were employed by Healthspace.

Care pathways, which detailed the care and support people needed for specific treatment provided at the service, ensured people received care and treatment in line with current best practice guidance.

Effective infection control practices meant that people were protected from the risks of cross infection.

The provider had introduced a variety of quality assurances processes. This meant the quality of the service was monitored and people living in the local community had the opportunity to influence the type of services offered at Healthspace.
