All Inspections

20 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who used the service, three staff and the registered manager. We reviewed eight people's treatment records and the systems put in place to respond to people's complaints and we looked at the provider's recruitment systems.

Most people told us that they were pleased with the treatment they had received at the service. One person said staff had supported them to undertake a 'home alcohol detox' and they had regular appointments with the doctor to ensure their wellbeing. They also told us they enjoyed taking part in group meetings and received support from people in a similar situation. They said 'the group work made a huge difference, and having people to be open with helped me a lot'.

We found that people gave consent for their treatment and received support that met their needs. We also found that there were procedures in place to protect people and staff from the risk of an infection. The registered manager had a complaints system and responded to complaints in a timely way. We found that the provider had recruitment system in place to ensure new staff were suitable to undertake their roles.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with one person who used the service and they told us that they were happy with the level of treatment and care the staff had provided. They told us that the staff had helped them to make a recovery from their drug addiction and that they had received ongoing support to get their life back on track. They also told us that the staff had given them the opportunity to train as a volunteer so they could offer support to other people who used the service.

The person also told us that people who used the service were invited to attend a service user meeting. They said that they attended these meetings and were involved with making improvements to the service provided. The improvements included the introduction of a woman's group, newsletter, social activities, and the introduction of therapies such as meditation and acupuncture.
