All Inspections

8 March 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of this inspection the agency was providing personal care to one person who used the service. Although this person was able to verbally communicate we were advised that it was more appropriate to speak to a relative rather than causing concern to the person who received the service. We spoke with a relative of the person who used the service and the member of staff who provided the care to this person.

The relative of the person who used the service told us "My family member is happy with the care that is provided". They said "Usually the same member of staff provides the care and my relative is happy with the service." They added "They ring me every week and ask if there is anything else that my relative needs".

The records we reviewed demonstrated that the provider had completed an assessment of the person's needs prior to them receiving a service. A comprehensive care plan had been developed in consultation with the person and their relative and this had been regularly reviewed. The care plan included a range of risk assessments which demonstrated that the staff had assessed the risks associated with the environment and those relevant to the delivery of care.

The relative we spoke with told us they and the person who received the service had received written information about the range of services offered by the agency, this had included how complaints could be made.
