During a routine inspection

We saw recorded evidence of the person's consent to the decisions that had been agreed around their support package. Records and feedback systems confirmed that people who used the service had been involved in making decisions about their support plan. Comments obtained from feedback forms included; "I would change nothing, the company have been fantastic since the day I came out of hospital"; "the treatment I have received has been excellent "and "everything they do is brilliant and I could not ask for more."

Staff told us that they used a flexible approach to the support provided. Comments included; "we adapt the support provided as people's needs, choices and lifestyles change to ensure they always get the service they require."

The service had a safeguarding policy in place. This included local procedures which staff would follow if they needed to report an alleged incident to the correct authorities. This was designed to ensure that any possible problems that arose were dealt with openly and people were protected from possible harm.

There was a consistent team of staff within the service. The staff members we spoke with were very positive about the service. They said they were well managed and well supported in their roles.

Information about the safety and quality of service provided was gathered on a continuous and ongoing basis with feedback from the people who used the service.

During a routine inspection

When we visited Stockport Supported Tenancies we called at the office base. We were told that there were five staff in total which included the Registered Manager who we saw also undertook support visits to people who used the service.

Because our inspection was unannounced we were not able to give advance notice of our visit to the people who used the service. Because SST is a service for vulnerable adults it was not appropriate to ask some of the people for interviews at very short notice but some people did agree to see us. One person we spoke to told us that they valued the service because 'they're really good', 'they talk to us' and 'they take notice'. We contacted a professional who is working with one of the people using the service and they said that SST provided good support and involved people '100%' in their care.

We also looked at the most recent client satisfaction survey which included comments such as 'I think you all do everything well. I feel very secure with you', 'Relationships with clients seem to be very important to support workers which I think is important to help with clients' needs' and 'I feel that we are just one big happy family'. Although one of the five surveys returned on this occasion gave a low rating the person had not provided any further explanation of this.
