All Inspections

28 March 2013

During a routine inspection

We carried out this inspection at Woking Community Hospital with which this service shares facilities and staff. The inspection was facilitated by the medical director and clinic manager.

We found that people who used the service were treated with respect and involved in decisions at every stage of their treatment. One person told us, "I asked about anaesthetic and the consultant spent some time going through the options".

The two people that we spoke with were very positive about the care and treatment they received in the service. One of them told us, "From the time you walk in they all treat you so well. They dealt with all the tests so I didn't have to worry. It was wonderful".

People told us that they felt safe while using the service and we confirmed that staff were trained and aware of safeguarding matters. One person told us, 'I felt completely safe the whole time I was there. The staff were friendly'.

We found that NHS employees were used to staff the reception and provide nursing support in this service. We reviewed the recruiting and selection procedure and found that staff appointed had been suitably qualified for the role.

We found that an effective complaints procedure was in place though we noted that no complaints had been received about the service since it began operating in March 2012. One person who used the service told us, "I had no complaints at all. Why wasn't it always like this'?
