All Inspections

19 December 2013

During a routine inspection

When we visited Home Instead Senior Care Kirklees we spoke with the registered manager and two staff.

As part of our inspection we also looked at three peoples care records. We saw evidence in each of the records we looked at that people who used the service or their representative had signed to give their consent for the care they were receiving.

The information in each care plan we looked at was person centred and included detailed information about peoples' preferred daily routine

The provider had systems in place to help prevent and control infections.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place.

New employees were supported in their role.

People who used the service, their representatives and staff were asked for their views about their care and treatment and they were acted on.

We also spoke with five relatives of people who used the service, their comments included:

'The carers are fantastic. They are on time' we get regular staff.'

'They (manager) are easy to talk to, very personable. We have no complaints.'

21 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people (or their next of kin) who received a service from the provider to gain their views about the service. They told us they were happy with the quality of care received and were treated with dignity and respect. Everyone we spoke with said they had been involved in making decisions about their care and felt able to express their views. People said they received a service which was personalised and met their individual needs. One person said 'The carers are excellent, they go that extra mile to help me,' and another person told us 'I have felt like a new person since the service started.' All the people we spoke to commented that they were provided with family centred care.
