During a routine inspection

First Encounters Ultrasound offered a service to expectant parents. All scans were private self referrals and the service was not available on the NHS. The service provided 'true-life commemorative photographic images of babies through non-evasive 3D and 4D ultrasound'.

People had heard about First Encounters from various sources including the internet and recommendations from other people who had used the service.

At the time of the inspection the service provided a clinic once a week on a Monday afternoon.

We spent the day with two staff, the manager and the HR and compliance consultant. Staff told us they were 'proud' to work for First Encounters and of the service they provided to people. We were welcomed by all members of staff who were happy to share their experiences in their individual roles and how they supported people who used the service.
