All Inspections

14 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with the provider, the manager of the service, four other staff members, six people who were using the service at the time of our inspection and three relatives who had family members who were receiving a service from the agency. We saw in the care records we viewed that people or their relatives had been involved in developing support plans and had signed their consent to the agreed care. People told us that staff respected their wishes and asked them what their preferences were when they were providing support.

People told us that they had the same staff who supported them on a regular basis who were familiar and knew their needs. They confirmed they were happy with the service they received. One person said, "I am perfectly satisfied" and another told us, "I am absolutely, fantastically pleased."

Staff demonstrated an awareness of their responsibilities with regard to protecting people from abuse and reporting any concerns they had about a person's welfare. Any safeguarding concerns were responded to appropriately and reported to the local authority safeguarding team.

We found that staff were well supported and received regular training, supervision and appraisal. Staff told us they all received one to one supervision, which we saw evidence of in the staff files that we viewed.

There were effective quality monitoring systems in place to ensure that any areas for development were identified and addressed.

4 January 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people using the service, five relatives and six staff, known as caregivers.

People said they were consulted about their care and support needs and that staff were able to meet their needs effectively. They told us they would feel confident to raise any concerns and felt these would be addressed. Staff recruitment procedures were in place and were being followed to ensure the service employed staff who were appropriately vetted and were qualified to meet people's needs. People and their relatives were encouraged to express their views about the service. Where issues were identified action was taken by the service to address these and improve the service being provided.

People and relatives we spoke with were very positive about the service being provided. One relative said 'I can't fault the carers' and another said 'they run a very efficient care agency' and gave them 'peace of mind.' People and relatives told us the staff made them feel comfortable and provided a good standard of care. One person said they were 'extremely satisfied and over the moon' with the service provided.
