During a routine inspection

Apartment 18 Eden Square was supporting three adults to live as independently as possible in individual, modern apartments. The provider, Leonard Cheshire Disability organisation worked closely with housing associations to support agreed tenancies.

We observed that staff had a very good relationship with the adult who was at home during the inspection. We spoke with one adult who lived at Eden Square. We were told : "I like it here, X is great , we get on very well, I am very happy".

We saw documented evidence of care, activities and support being undertaken with the consultation and agreement of the person involved. Risk assessments were in place, these included finance, mobility, medication, personal care needs, risk of absconding and fire evacuation per apartment. It was clear that nutrition and monitoring of weights was undertaken as required.

There was a detailed summary about each person and this gave staff a clear understanding of personal likes and dislikes, preferences, what was important to them and what they wanted to achieve. This enabled staff to ensure that the appropriate support was implemented to achieve goals.

Apartment 18 Eden Square had appropriate systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided. Care files had also been reviewed with each key worker. We saw that incidents were effectively reported and investigated. We noted that learning from incidents had been cascaded to staff and changes implemented.
