Genesis provides support with personal care and domestic tasks to enable people to remain in their own homes. People's care and welfare needs were being met. They told us they were happy with the quality of care that they received. A person who used the service said 'I couldn't ask for better carers.' Another said 'I am very satisfied and would recommend the agency.'

We found that people were treated with respect and that they were asked for their consent before any care was provided. One person said 'they are reliable, respectful and caring.' A member of staff told us 'we must always ask the client before we do anything.'

People were provided with a safe service and had confidence in their 'carers'. A relative told us 'I trust these carers and so does Mum.'

Staff received the training and support that they needed to carry out their duties and to support people who used the service. One member of staff told us 'we get the right sort of training and it's updated every year.'

The provider monitored the quality of service provided to ensure that people were receiving a safe service that met their needs. People who used the service were asked for their opinions about the service and, as far as possible, any issues that were raised were addressed.

People were very positive about the service that the agency provided. When necessary the service worked with other care professionals to ensure that people's care and welfare needs are being met. Many of those we spoke with said that they had previous poor experiences with other agencies and that this was the best service they had used. A relative said 'top marks. My mum always has the same two girls and they are lovely, she is very happy with her care.' A person who uses the service told us 'Always on time. X always looks after me very well. Brilliant, they are absolutely brilliant.'

Some people received support with their medication and staff had received training to enable them to do this. One person said 'I always take my own tablets but she always checks I have taken them when she arrives.' People were aware of the complaints procedure and were confident that any complaints or issues would be dealt with. Records were kept of the care and support that had been provided.

People who use the service and their relatives spoke very highly of Genesis.

People said:

'Carers are fine and seem to be doing everything right. They always turn up and they are rarely late, only in very bad weather. They are polite and kind. Any new girls always listen to me when I tell them how to help me.'

'Absolutely wonderful. Have all been fabulous. I could not fault them.'

'Can't find fault with them. Mum feels fine with them. They are regular and punctual.'

'They are always polite and respectful. Quite funny and pleasant. I would go out and leave them if I needed to as I trust them. He is safe with them.'

'They're pretty reliable and I can depend on them. They're quite good. The girls empathise with me. They do things the way I want them to. I can talk to them on a cultural level. Nothing bad to say about them. The manager and others from the office come round. They look at the book and check everything is up-to-date.'

'I feel he is safe with them. They are very reliable. They do the right thing.'

'Well satisfied. I feel safe with them. They set me at ease and it's not embarrassing.'

'I have a usual carer but she's off for a short while so I have I got someone else. They're nice and never had any problems. They're polite.'

'Totally happy. I have a nice young lady. I'm quite happy with them. They are always polite and nice and I'm full of praise. They have their own inspectors who ask how things are.'

We also saw feedback that had been provided to the local authority. In the last year there had been one complaint and the rest were compliments. Compliments included: "Thank you for all your help and friendliness. Been a constant boost to my morale during the last few months." "Thank you to the carer for helping make the end of Mrs X's life bearable."
