During a routine inspection

A domiciliary care service was provided to three people, two of whom had only limited support from the agency. A fourth person was provided with an escort service to access a community facility. A relative of this person confirmed that the service provided was reliable, that staff were kind and caring and that the dignity of the person being supported was always maintained. The relatives of other people receiving a service did not respond to a request by the registered manager to contact him to arrange for us to speak with them.

However we visited and spoke with one person who was receiving an extensive daily care package from the service. This person was very pleased about the service provided that had enabled her to live in her own home, and spoke positively of the staff team that supported her. We were told that staff were, 'Very good', and that they helped her to do the things that she enjoyed doing. This same person went on to say, 'It is nice to be back in my own home again', and confirmed that staff arrived when they were meant to and did everything that they were meant to do.

The person visited spoke of the qualities of the staff team. We were told that staff were 'always good' and that there was good consistency of staff support, with the same small team of people visiting each day.

It was clear that staff had built up a good relationship with the people they supported and that those relationships were highly valued and brought pleasure to people using the service. One person told us how much she enjoyed the care givers coming to her home saying, 'I get on well with all of them'.

From observation, it appeared that people felt safe using the service and that they had confidence in the care givers that supported them.
