Overview

Inspection carried out on 15, 17 January 2014

During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us staff checked with them whether they were happy to receive care. Everyone told us that staff respected their wishes and that they could refuse care if they wanted to.

People experienced care and support that met their needs. We spoke with a person’s representative who told us, “They went through what (their relative's) needs were. They go with that.”

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. A member of staff told us, “I would go to my manager or if they were not around I would go to safeguarding (local authority safeguarding team.”

The majority of people that used the service and people’s representatives told us that there were enough staff to meet people’s needs. One person told us, “They have never cancelled a visit.”

People who used the service and their representatives were asked for their views about their care and treatment and these were acted on. One person told us, “They come regular to go through things, to check that I am satisfied.”
