During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit there were 25 people living at Hill House. We spoke with three people living in the home and the relatives of two other people. Everyone we spoke with told us that there was a choice of food and drink in the home at every meal and that snacks were available. One person told us, �oh yes, the foods nice here and I especially enjoy breakfast because I can have a cooked breakfast like I did at home.�

We found that people were not always being asked for their views or consent in relation to their care and treatment. We looked at the care plans for five people and found that they did not always consider people�s capacity to consent or their best interests.

We observed that generally, people were being cared for in a clean, hygienic environment. People we spoke with told us that the home was mostly clean and tidy and they felt the domestic staff did a good job. The provider was undertaking a programme of refurbishment around the home.

Improvements had been made to the systems in place to manage risks in the home however we found that action plans in place as a result of audits were not always completed. We also found that where issues had been highlighted, these had not been addressed with staff.

People�s personal records, including medical records, were stored securely and were completed regularly.
