We saw that people using the service were encouraged to be independent and helped with cooking, making drinks, and looking after their home. People told us they enjoyed many social activities including going to college, shopping and going to the cinema. One person told us, 'We get to plan where we want to go and who we go with.' This meant people were involved in everyday ordinary activities of their choosing.

People told us they could make choices about their food and drink and were supported to be independent with planning, preparing and cooking their meals.

Staffing was organised flexibly to support the planned activities of people using the service. One person told us, 'They staff are great, and are always around if I want support.'

Staff received training and support to enable them to meet people's needs and to provide care and support in a positive and professional manner.

The routines and daily activities were flexible and staff responded to people's needs. The appropriate staffing was provided to ensure people were able to carry out planned activities. People spoke positively about the staff and the support they provided. We saw people chose what to do and where to go, and were provided with support from staff to keep safe in the community. One person told us, 'I like to plan what I do. I choose what I want and the staff are there to help me.'

We saw people were dressed in individual styles of dress that reflected their age and gender. People told us they could choose how to dress, and whether to grow a beard or moustache. This meant people could express their individuality.

People said they were involved in making decisions about their care and their views were taken into account. People were supported to make decisions if appropriate, or could use an advocate. This meant people's views were listened to.
