During a routine inspection
We spoke to five people who use the service and they were pleased with the support that they had been given by the carers that they stayed with. In some cases people had become more independent and now were joining in more activities.
Most of the carers we spoke to felt the support workers were very helpful but they had limited time to spend with each family. Carers and support workers could attend training if they wanted to but there was no monitoring to check that everyone had the right training to carry out their role.
The support workers told us that most of their work was dealing with urgent matters rather than giving everyday support to the carers and checking the people using the service were satisfied and having their needs met.
The service was being managed quite informally, for example complaints were not being monitored and there were not enough quality checks to make sure that people were all receiving a good service. We found that many of the people using the service had not had their care plans kept up to date.
