All Inspections

25 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service to find out their views on how they were being supported. We also spoke with two managers, one family nurse (FN) and we read the electronic support plans of two people. This was to find out more information on the quality of service provided by Ripplez.

The people we spoke with told us they were fully involved in all aspects of their support plans and their needs were understood by their family nurse who visited them. They both explained that their family nurse supported them throughout the programme and encouraged them to be self-reliant. They told us their nurse always listened and responded to them. They told us they had one to one support throughout their time on the programme and they could rely on their nurse. We saw there were a number of records to show how the company worked continually with other providers to ensure both care and support provided were linked.

A complaints procedure was available to address any issues. The provider used a number of quality assurance measures to monitor and improve the service.

28 February and 1 March 2013

During a routine inspection

On the days of this inspection there were 153 people using the service, which was provided by eight family nurses. We spoke with three people who use the service to find out their views on how they were being supported. We also spoke with the manager, three family nurses and we read the electronic support plan of one person. This was to find out more information on the quality of service provided by Ripplez.

The people we spoke with all agreed that their privacy and dignity was respected by Ripplez family nurses. One person told us, '[My nurse] is trustworthy'she respects confidentiality.'

All the people using the service had been fully involved in drawing up their support plans and they felt that their needs were well understood by the nurses who visited them. They all confirmed that the nurses encouraged them to be as independent as possible and said they listened to them and acted on what they said. They confirmed that the nurses were reliable.

People told us they felt safe with, and well treated by, their family nurse. One person told us, 'I'd trust [the nurse] with my life.' The nurses had received training that kept adults and children safe and the people we spoke with felt that the nurses were well trained to meet their needs. Records we saw supported this.

The company had a wide range of quality assurance tools with which to monitor the service and identify ways of improving it.
