During a routine inspection
People told us that when they came for their first appointment they were assessed by the doctor. We were told that the doctor checked their weight and height and informed them of their body mass index (BMI). People said that the doctor did other medical checks such as taking their blood pressure and taking their medical history.
They said that they found the initial consultation helpful and that they received a weeks supply of medicines. They then came back after that period to be weighed and to see if the medicines were of benefit.
People spoken with confirmed that they were provided with information/leaflets about the medication that they had been prescribed. However, the information did not include an explanation of the licensing arrangements for appetite suppressants to make sure people fully understood about the medicines they were taking.
People said that they were informed and understood the benefits of the medication and also the possible side effects. They said they signed to say they understood the treatment. Everyone we spoke with was complimentary about the doctor and staff that work at the clinic.
People said they received treatment and care from well trained, polite and knowledgeable staff. We saw that care was taken to respect peoples' privacy and dignity.
