All Inspections

19 February 2014

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we met with three of the five people who used service and spoke with the relative of one of them. We asked them for their views on the quality of the service they received. One person told us they were happy with the support they received and the relative of one person said: 'I think the staff they provide are experienced, the support workers are companionate towards my daughter and the team support her with social integration. They're trained to give medication and they are very good communication systems between all agencies involved and any action taken is prompt.'

Each person's needs had been assessed and this information had been updated on a regular basis. People were involved in the development of their support plans and people's capacity to make informed decisions about all aspects of their assessed needs was regularly reviewed. People were supported by independent representatives where they did not have the capacity to make informed decisions about their care.

There were policies and procedures in place to help protect people who used the service from harm. If there were any concerns about a person's welfare or safety action was taken.

Staff had been supported to enable them to deliver safe and effective care. They had received appropriate induction training at the beginning of their employment. The manager of the service carried out regular checks to make sure that staff carried out their roles effectively.

The provider had systems in place to monitor the overall quality of the service. This included speaking to people who used the service to ask them for their views and checking written records to ensure they were properly completed.

18 February 2013

During a routine inspection

When we visited Social Care Solutions Ltd (Nottingham Office) on 18 February 2013, we spoke with the relatives of two people who used the service and they told us they felt satisfied with the care and support their relative received. We observed that people were offered support at a level which encouraged independence and assured their individual needs were met. The staff were friendly and courteous in their approach to people and interacted confidently with them. We noted that people were encouraged to express their views about the quality of care they received.

Due to the communication difficulties of the people who used the service, we were unable to get any direct quotations from them during our visit. However, within the care files we saw people and or their families had been involved with various aspects of their care, including the planning their care, making decisions about their support and treatment, and how they spent their time.

Care plans were detailed and contained practical guidance for staff. One relative we spoke with said the staff understood their family members' needs and knew how to care for them. People told us they felt their views were listened to and they were confident to make a complaint if they needed to. One relative said, 'They work very hard to deliver a good quality service.'
