All Inspections

8 February 2013

During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection there was one person booked into the clinic. They spoke very highly of the service, saying that they "felt confident in the doctors" and that they had been seen almost immediately after the initial referral.

We noted that the clinic appeared clean and in good repair. There was a range of equipment that was ready for use in diagnostics. There was a private consulting room and a waiting area that had information available for people to take away with them.

There were two people working in the clinic on the day of our inspection. They were knowledgeable, helpful and courteous, both on the phone and in face to face conversations.

We were told by staff that the English Institute of Sport was funded by a lottery grant and UK Sport and was overseen by the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (FSEM). Staff told us that all physicians that worked at the clinic had to have an annual appraisal by both the FSEM and the institute. This confirmed that physicians were up to date and continuing their development in this area of medicine.

From records we saw that staff were continually appraised and clinical protocols and procedures were frequently audited. These protocols and procedures were current and reflected good practice, National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and FSEM guidelines, confirming continuing development of treatment and clinical practices.
