During a routine inspection

At the time of this inspection there were 14 people using the service. Accompanied by staff, we visited three of these people in their homes and spoke with them about their experiences. We also spoke with two of the four staff who were delivering the service that day. They told us that the team provided effective mutual support and that they enjoyed the work they did supporting people.

People we spoke with told us that they were very happy with the service they received. They told us that staff understood their needs and were responsive to requests they made. One person told us that they had been reluctant to accept help, but 'I wouldn't be without them now.' Another person said 'They [staff] do everything I ask them to do.' One person who had recently started using the service was complimentary about how flexible the staff were and how they had resolved some environmental issues to deliver the care they required.

During a routine inspection

People told us that staff were respectful and kind and that they were able to meet people's needs in a way that suited them as an individual. They said that they were consulted about how they wanted to be supported by staff and that they had been able to influence how care was delivered.

One family member told us that had been adept at putting their relative at their ease. One person's family member told us that visits from the agency had made an enormous difference to their relative and the family. They told us that the staff supported them really well and that they were pleased with the service.

People told us that the provider visited them to check whether their care was being delivered in accordance with their needs. They told us that they would have no hesitation in raising concerns they may have about their care with the provider.
