During a routine inspection

We visited one of the homes where 24 hour support was provided by this service. We met the people who lived there as well as some of the staff who supported them. We visited the home next to it also run by the service and spoke with the manager of the service. We spoke by phone with two relatives and an advocate of people using the service. We looked at records that showed how people’s care was being met.

We saw people interacting with staff and being supported to make choices. The people who lived at the home we visited had very limited verbal communications. Staff showed a good understanding of how to meet needs.

We spoke with an advocate who told us the service sought their involvement when appropriate. They told us they had "No concerns" about the service and noted that staff showed a good understanding of people’s communications. They said staff worked well to ensure people had freedom of choice whilst maintaining their safety and well-being. We spoke with two relatives. One relative told us they had made a recent complaint about specific aspects of the service. This was being responded to.

During a routine inspection

We visited the offices of the service without advance notice. We then visited a tenancy where two people were supported around the clock by the service. We spoke with the two staff on duty, met the two people who lived there and observed interactions at the home. We also spoke by phone with four relatives of people who received daily support.

The members of staff we spoke with showed a good awareness of the needs of the people they worked with. The people we met appeared relaxed with staff and with their environment.

Relatives we spoke with were positive about the support offered by the service. One said that their family member “Loves it” and was “Very, very happy.” Relatives said they were involved in reviews, kept informed and one added “I have no need to complain.” One relative said there had been “Teething problems” but added “Things were improving.”
