All Inspections

During a routine inspection

There were no people that were available to speak with us during our inspection.

Staff working at Parkside Hospital at Putney had good understanding of consent and the circumstances of when to obtain written or verbal consent. Before undergoing any treatment, people were required to complete a Patient Agreement to Investigation or Treatment form.

There were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. Staff we spoke with told us they had received training in emergency resuscitation and the use of the defibrillator.

The premises were clean and well maintained. The corridors, communal areas and consulting rooms were free of clutter. All the consultation rooms had hand washing sinks and sanitisers.

Records were kept securely and could be located promptly when needed. Confidential records were kept in the nurses' office or in consultation rooms.

People who use the service told us they were happy with it, and that staff treated them with respect and dignity. They told us that communication was good with consultants and other staff, that they were able to telephone at any time between appointments, and that they felt listened to. Staff told us that people were ''treated politely and with respect''.

Staff told us that that management ensured they were working in a good environment and that they felt supported. They had good access to training and development and felt listened to, and were comfortable with the processes in place to raise concerns or make suggestions for improvement. They received regular feedback about the service through staff meetings and newsletters.

Patients were protected from abuse and all staff were clear about their safeguarding responsibilities.

We saw that the provider has developed links with other professionals and sought specialist advice where necessary.

Staff received appropriate training and development to carry out their role and were encouraged to share learning with colleagues.

The provider has developed a range of tools to assess risk, and to monitor and evaluate the service provided.
