During a routine inspection

We spoke with one person who was receiving care and support from Merseycare Julie Ann Limited, and three people's relatives on the telephone. The people we spoke with told us about their views and experiences of the agency. We also sent out surveys to people receiving care. Overall, people who used the service and their relatives were satisfied with the care being provided. The majority of people reported that their carers treated them with respect.

We reviewed three people's care records and found they contained the majority of information staff required to provide care in a way which met people's individual needs.

All members of staff went through recruitment checks to ensure they had the appropriate skills and values to undertake their roles. New members of staff were supported through induction and newly recruited care workers told us this worked well.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. However, concerns were raised about staff not having the required skills to treat specific medical conditions.

An effective system was in place for complaints. People and their relatives had access to information about how to make a complaint.

During a routine inspection

We visited three people who were receiving care and support from Merseycare Julie Ann Limited in their own home. We also spoke to one person's relative. The people we spoke to told us about their views and experiences of the service they received. People told us they were very satisfied with the care and support provided to them. One person said 'They [the staff] are very good. I don't know what life would be like without the help.' Another person told us they were always treated with dignity by the care workers.

People told us they valued the same care workers coming consistently to provide them with support. They also told us the care workers usually came on time. One relative we spoke to said they were very happy with the standard of care being provided. We were told the care workers were flexible in their approach and would support their relative with their choice of activities.
