Inspection carried out on 13 September 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who had visited the dentist that day, and another three by telephone, who had visited in the previous two days. This was because only one dentist was working on the day we visited and we wanted to get the views of people who had received care from the second dentist.

All six people provided only positive comments about their experience of using the service. These included “My dentist is by far the most considerate dentist I’ve ever visited.” And “Everything is spot on. I never have to wait long when I visit.” A third said “My dentist is very patient, particularly with my children." And a fourth explained “My children never worry about going there. He (the dentist) makes the visit quite exciting for them.”

We found people consented to the care they received and staff were aware of people’s rights to refuse any treatment offered.

People received good dental care and treatment and staff were responsive and supportive to those individuals who found a visit to the dentist a stressful event.

The service was clean and fresh and had good hygiene systems in place to minimise the spread of infection.

We found the staff were well-trained, well-supported and worked well as a team.

The service had robust systems in place to ensure complaints were managed appropriately and in a timely way.
