During a routine inspection

People told us they received good care at the home. Two people described the care staff as "marvellous". One relative of a person using the service told us they regarded the service as a "home from home" for their family member. People and their relatives told us their consent was sought before care was given. Several people told us there was plenty to eat, although two people told us the menu could lack variety at times.

We found that people's wishes were taken in to account in most cases and they were consulted with about decisions related to their care. We found that care and treatment was planned in accordance with people's assessed needs and that records were kept up to date and were stored securely. The provider had effective recruitment processes in place to ensure only suitable staff were employed by the service and the quality of the service was monitored on a regular basis

During a routine inspection

People and relatives we spoke with said that the staff were friendly and looked after them well. They said that staff were available when they needed them and spoke to them in a pleasant manner. One person we spoke with said staff 'really understood the needs of the residents.' People and the relatives we spoke with were happy with the care provided at the home. One relative told us that their family member's "quality of life had much improved since moving into the home" and that they were "visibly more relaxed.'

We found that the people who used the service were involved in their care planning and received a personalised care and support which was based on an assessment of their needs. Staff received support and training in different aspects of care and demonstrated an understanding of safeguarding of vulnerable adults. However, we also found that not all care records were accurate and important aspects of care were incorrectly documented in the care records.
