All Inspections

17 January 2014

During a routine inspection

During our inspection of the Cambridge Clinic and Sanctuary on 17 January 2014, we found that people who used the clinic were involved in setting their own personal goals and in planning how their care needs were met. We contacted several families about the care their child had received at the clinic. One parent told us: "The clinic was recommended to me by a third party, the care we have received has been outstanding".

We found that care records were current and reflected the needs of people who used the Cambridge Clinic and Sanctuary. Staff we spoke with demonstrated an excellent understanding and knowledge of the care and support people required

The premises were well maintained and records showed that appropriate safety checks had taken place on equipment which meant it was safe for people who visited for their care and treatment.

There was a recruitment procedure in place to ensure that only people suitable to work with vulnerable people were employed and staff received a wide range of training to equip them for their role.

There was an effective system in place to deal with any complaints or concerns people might raise.

During a routine inspection

We found that people were involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and support. The relative of a person who had used the service told us "For the first time my daughter was listened to and really heard" and that the treatment had been "Flexible" to accommodate her daughter's needs.

There was a detailed assessment for each person who had used the service. One person whose relative had used the service told us "They didn't just treat the physical symptoms but also supported them emotionally as well." They also told us that there had been " ...very good results, very quickly" regarding her daughter's illness.

The staff were aware of what procedures they should follow if they suspected anyone had suffered any kind of abuse.

Although the provider had asked people if they were happy with the service they had received there was no structured process in place to assess the quality of the service being provided.
