All Inspections

6 December 2013

During a routine inspection

MC Care Solutions is a domiciliary care agency that provides support and personal care to people in their own homes.

The registered provider was not available on the day of our visit so we spoke with the Business Director about the service being provided to people in their homes. The Business Director was also actively involved in providing care support to people using the service. We spoke with one person using the service and another care worker employed by the provider. Another visit we had planned to a person using the service had to be cancelled at short notice due to the provider's concerns regarding infection control.

One of the people we spoke with who was using the service described their care as 'exceptional'. One of the staff members we spoke with said they felt 'very supported by the provider' in delivering care support to people in their homes.

We found that before people received any care or treatment, they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes.

We found that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

We found that people were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

We found that the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

We found that there was an effective complaints system available.

During a routine inspection

MC Care Solutions is a domiciliary care agency that provides support to people in their own homes.

At this inspection we spoke with the manager, the deputy care manager, two care workers and three people who used the services of MC Care Solutions.

People's privacy dignity and independence were respected. Their views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care.

We found that care plans accurately reflected people's needs and had been drawn up with their involvement. People expressed satisfaction with the care they received and told us the care workers were 'very good' and 'prompt, caring and very thorough'.

People using the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People were supported by care workers who had been recruited in a safe manner and were appropriately qualified to carry out their role.

Records we looked at were accurate, up to date and were easily accessible to us during our visit.
