During a routine inspection

We found people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

We found the provider had an effective system in place to assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

We also reviewed the home's complaints system and found that the provider had in place an effective complaints system.

People we spoke to told us that they were happy living at the home. Comments included “This is a very nice place to be” and “They look after me here” and “It’s wonderful here” and “the staff are very nice”.

People we spoke to told us there were plenty of activities on offer. Comments included “They have activity ladies and there is plenty to do”.

During a themed inspection looking at Dignity and Nutrition

People told us what it was like to live at this home and described how they were treated by staff and their involvement in making choices about their care. They also told us about the quality and choice of food and drink available. This was because this inspection was part of a themed inspection programme to assess whether older people living in care homes are treated with dignity and respect and whether their nutritional needs are met.

The inspection team was led by a CQC inspector joined by an Expert by Experience; people who have experience of using services and who can provide that perspective.

We spoke to ten people who lived in the home who told us that they were happy living there. Comments included that they were 'very happy' and that 'it was almost as good as living at home'. One person told us they had taken a long time to settle in but were now 'very happy.'

We asked people about mealtimes, they told us that 'there is plenty of choice' and the 'food is delicious'. Everyone we spoke to said that the food provided was 'very good.'

We also spoke to five visitors about the service, the majority told us that they were very happy with the care being given.
