During a routine inspection

When we visited the Bosden Farm Dental Practice we were told that the current provider had decided to retire and was in the process of selling the practice. This meant that we were unable to check certain records such as maintenance of equipment and audits of practice as these had been lodged off site with the solicitors who were dealing with the sale.

During our inspection we talked with the dentist and with the dental nurse who was assisting on that day. We spoke with three patients who had attended for consultations. They told us that it was easy to get an appointment at the surgery and that when necessary this could be arranged on the same day. One patient told us that they felt that the relationship with the practice was one of 'mutual respect' and that the practice took account of their particular dental history when treating them. Another patient told us that the dentist explained what was happening during treatment. They said that the dentist was kind and treated them with respect 'The dentist is good. I am happy ' I have never had any reason to complain'.

We looked around the surgery including the waiting and consulting rooms and saw the arrangements for the decontamination of reusable instruments. We saw that these conformed with the current guidelines.
