We reviewed the action plan that had been produced by the provider. We looked at the revised policy and procedures that had been put in place and we talked to the manager about the revised way of working that had been introduced.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two patients who told us that they were happy with the advice and treatment they received from the dentists at the practice. One patient told us, 'The dentist is so gentle and nice.' Another patient told us that the practice had accommodated a change to their appointment efficiently and without fuss.

We saw records that confirmed that patients had been involved in decisions about their treatment.

Staff were able to describe how they ensured that working practices maintained the safety and well being of the patients.

We saw that the surgery areas were clean and hygienic with appropriate dental equipment in place. Staff were able to describe systematic routines for maintaining standards of cleanliness in the surgery.

We looked at two staff files and talked to those staff. We found that staff training had not been provided by the practice in over a year. There was no clear training plan in place. Support for staff was available informally.

There were processes in place to review the quality of the service provided for patients. There were some audits of practice in place.
