During a routine inspection

We spoke with three people who lived at the service during our inspection, including one person receiving support with their personal care. They told us they received good quality care from the provider. One person told us "This is home for me". We reviewed a sample of care records, five in total, and found that each contained an assessment of people's needs and a plan as to how to meet those needs.

Consent was sought by the provider from people in regards to the support they required. Consent was reviewed if their care needs changed.

The provider had a safeguarding policy and procedure in place. Staff were not able to explain what the reporting processes were and were not aware of the contact details of the local authority safeguarding adults' team.

Staff were not supported by the provider with training, supervision and annual appraisals.

The provider had a complaints policy in place, and people using the service were aware of how to make a complaint.

During a routine inspection

People at 21 Breakspears Road were involved in making decisions about their support arrangements. When they needed medical care, they were supported to access these services. Speaking of attending medical appointments, one person told us, "I can't go out on my own. Someone goes with me and makes sure I'm alright."

Suitable arrangements were in place to support people to manage their medicines safely. One person told us, "I get support to take my medication."

Staff members employed in the service had suitable background checks before they began work.
