All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted on their wishes. One person said, "We made changes to my support plan a little while ago, the team leader, social worker and I agreed the new plan."

People's needs were assessed before any care and treatment was planned. We looked at a sample of five people's care records and saw each of them had an assessment of needs carried out. People we spoke with who used the service were very positive about the care they received. One person said, "They are very good, exceptionally good."

Staff had been provided with training in relation to cleanliness and infection control and were aware of when they should be using their personal protective equipment (PPE). The provider was also able to show us details of visits carried out to people's homes. These visits were used to supervise the work carried out by the care staff and to ensure the correct PPE was used where necessary.

We looked at a sample of four staff recruitment and selection records. There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place.

Checking systems included spot checks and annual care reviews, at which people who used using the service, and their relatives, were present. Someone who used the service told us, "The supervisor regularly contacts me to check if I am happy and comes out to check that the girls are doing what they should."

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with said they were happy with the care and support they had received. One person said, 'We get very good help and are pleased with the service. (Name of supervisor) really understands mental health and we feel lucky that we were taken on by the mental health team.' Another person said, 'I've been extremely happy.'

People were supported in promoting their independence. People told us the care and support they received enabled them to remain in their home. One relative said, 'They have spent a lot of time getting things right. They have come up with new ideas about how to help keep him safe in his own home.'

People's needs were assessed and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. Everyone we spoke with, which included people who used the service, relatives and staff said there was good information available about how to meet people's needs.

People we spoke with were complimentary about the staff team and said they were treated with respect. The provider supported staff to deliver care to an appropriate standard. Staff we spoke with said everyone worked well together and they felt well supported.

People were made aware that they could raise concerns in various ways. Some people talked about home visits made by the supervisor where they had been asked if they had any concerns.
