All Inspections

13 January 2014

During a routine inspection

The registered manager assisted throughout this inspection. We met and spoke with four of the five people accommodated at the time of our inspection and with one member of the support staff. Everyone we spoke with was positive about the home and the way it was run. One person told us, 'It really has been lifesaving for me to come here'.

We found that people's needs had been comprehensively assessed and plans of care agreed with people about the goals they wished to achieve whilst in treatment. Expectations of treatment and the rules bounding treatment at Clarity were made clear to people before they were accepted for treatment.

Information provided to people before they accepted treatment made it clear that there was an expectation that they should generally be able to manage their own medication whilst in treatment at Clarity. In some circumstances the home assisted people with medication and there were safe systems in place to manage this.

People we spoke with during the inspection told us that they were happy with the levels of staffing provided at Clarity. The home provided low staffing levels and generally there was not a need for staff to be provided during the night time period. In some circumstances night staffing could be provided.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of service provided to people.

30 October 2012

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit four people were receiving a service.

We spoke with three people. We also spoke with a volunteer support worker, the manager of the service and a social worker to hear about their experiences or opinions of the service.

One person we spoke with was participating in a primary treatment programme the others had progressed beyond that stage. They all expressed very positive views about the help and support they received and the treatment programmes that were available. The volunteer said, 'I am success story. I was here five years ago. I am still clean and sober'.

People told us the staff were polite and they were treated with respect. They said they were fully involved in their treatment programme and their progress was regularly reviewed.

We saw that there were procedures in place to protect people from harm and being exploited.

Everyone we spoke with was satisfied with their accommodation. They described it as 'good' and 'nice'. We saw that the property was well maintained and safe.

Staff recruitment procedures were robust and they received training and support to enable them to carry out their work.

There were systems and procedures in place to enable people to influence the service and check that the quality of it was being maintained and where necessary improved.
